Textbook Commission
Based on the recommendation of the State Superintendent, the Governor appoints a Textbook Commission of 23 members who hold office for four years, or until their successors are appointed and qualified. Members are assigned roles on the commission based on their qualifications in the categories of principal, teacher, parent or superintendent and the grade bands (K-5, 6-8, 9-12). The Commission meets four times a year or at the call of the chair. The term end date for the current commission is April 1, 2025.

January 25, 2022 Special Called Meeting The NC Textbook Commission will hold a special called meeting on January 25, 2022, beginning at 9 a.m. to deliberate the evaluation of materials for a bid that was mistakenly omitted. The meeting will be virtual only. https://bit.ly/SpecialCommMtg, on the day of the meeting to join.The commission will deliberate to determine whether to recommend the bid materials to the State Board of Education (SBE) for adoption. Reconsideration will be given per request by the publisher if the bid submission is not recommended during deliberations.
