The Annual Data Inventory serves as the official record and master schedule of all recurring annual data reports required by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. It is intended to make the reporting of data a more manageable task for local school districts. A contact within the Department is included should questions arise concerning a particular report. The Department remains committed to the goal of improving the quality of data reporting while placing a minimal burden on school districts and schools. We welcome your comments and suggestions regarding ways to eliminate duplication, streamline forms, etc. and improve communications concerning data and collections. Please e-mail Diane Dulaney, Director of the Office of Data, Reporting and Privacy, at email@example.com.
North Carolina General Statute 115C-13 requires that "local boards of education and their officers and employees shall provide to the State Board and to the Superintendent all information needed to carry out their duties." GS 115C-272(b) states that "Superintendents shall be paid promptly when their salaries are due provided the legal requirements for their employment and service have been met."
State law provides that a local superintendent's salary may be withheld for failure to provide required data to DPI. State Board policy TCS-R-001 describes the procedures used for imposing sanctions for late reporting.
