The North Carolina Office of Charter Schools is currently implementing the North Carolina Advancing Charter Collaboration and Excellence for Student Success (NC ACCESS) Program through a $36.6 million Public Charter Schools Program (CSP) grant from the U.S. Department of Education to:

  1. Award 60 school-level subgrants to increase the number of educationally disadvantaged students attending high-quality charter schools;
  2. Create a cohort of 160 charter school leaders who can develop and demonstrate best practices in serving educationally disadvantaged students; and
  3. Broadly disseminate best practices in serving educationally disadvantaged students and foster collaboration in the charter school community and between charter schools and traditional public schools.

The 2022-23 NC ACCESS subgrant application cycle is designated for eligible charter schools scheduled to open for the 2022-23 school year. Eligible applicants have been notified of their opportunity to apply. Letters of Intent for the 2022-23 cycle are due May 2, 2022 and full applications are due July 1, 2022.
