Workshop: Building an Auditory Brain - What it Takes to Build Learners who Listen
Date: April 6, 2026
Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
Location: Greensboro, NC
Date of Webinar: February 19, 2026
Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm
Description:
Learn the definition of Interpreting as a Related Service and all its components.
Many times interpreters will begin “working” as soon as someone speaks or starts signing, but without appropriate decalage, the message can become garbled. This training will work on developing the skill and knowledge of why processing time is needed and help interpreters increase their own decalage without losing important information. This is a crucial skill in an interpreter's development and will help improve scores on the EIPA.
Key use of vocabulary and appropriate use of fingerspelling are two areas on the EIPA that on average are scored low throughout the state. This face to face workshop will focus and teach the didactic approach as it relates to educational interpreting while giving participants opportunity to practice as well.
Location: Greensboro, NC - final location will send as soon as it is confirmed by the host.
