Description:
This session explores the different structures that Assistive Technology (AT) teams can take within a school system. Participants will learn that AT teams are not one-size-fits-all—an IEP team can function as an AT team, individual schools can form site-based AT teams, and a PSU can establish a centralized AT team. The session will highlight how each structure can be effective depending on the needs, size, and resources of the district. Emphasis will be placed on flexible team models, role clarity, and practical strategies to leverage existing staff. No matter the size or staffing of your PSU, you already have the personnel needed to implement some form of an AT team.
Why you should attend:
Every PSU has the capacity to build effective AT support structures using the staff they already have. This session is ideal for educators, administrators, and support staff looking to establish, refine, or rethink how AT services are coordinated. You’ll leave with concrete examples of team models that work in various contexts and ideas for building a system that is sustainable, collaborative, and responsive to student needs.
