The successive process of special education evaluations, including IDEA’s mandates, will be reviewed, grounded in principles connected to educational equity (fairness and inclusivity). High Leverage Practices for Students with Disabilities, specifically Collaboration and Assessment, will be introduced and connected to fair and inclusive special education evaluation planning and implementation. Analysis of the information that leads to the referral will be discussed as the basis for sound evaluation planning. Participants will review the requirements to adhere to with every evaluation.

This one-day professional learning specializes in collaboration to provide an understanding of the Mathematic Extended Content Standards. This professional learning is directed towards teachers of students with significant cognitive disabilities. Professionals will collaborate to analyze, decode, plan, and create mathematical activities based on the Extended Content Standards. This training will be held in Mocksville, NC on February 20, 2025 from 8:30 - 3:30 with an hour lunch on your own.

In response to popular request, four afternoon workshops (1-4p) will be offered to follow-up the full day sessions on Effective IEPs through Collaboration. Prior to registering for this workshop, participants must have participated in one of the full day sessions on Effective IEPs Through Collaboration or Integrated IEP Development offered previously (school years 2023-2025). Participants should review slides/content from the full day sessions prior to attending the workshop.
