Description: This professional learning session introduces augmentative and alternative communication for learners who are Deaf Plus. The session centers on how AAC can expand access to meaningful and autonomous communication for these learners. Participants will examine common myths, identify when AAC may support a student’s communication goals, and learn strategies for teaching learners who are Deaf Plus with AAC. The training honors the wide range of communication modalities they use and supports teams in integrating AAC into everyday instruction.
Description: This professional learning session introduces educators to a range of tools designed to support instruction and progress monitoring for students who are deaf and hard of hearing in the areas of language, vocabulary, auditory skill development, and self-advocacy. Participants will gain a broad overview of how these tools can inform specially designed instruction (SDI), guide the identification of IEP goal areas, and support understanding of student growth over time.
