NC Check-Ins 2.0

NC Check-Ins 2.0 at Grades 3–8

The NC Check-Ins 2.0 at grades 3–8 are the through-year formative component of the North Carolina Personalized Assessment Tool (NCPAT) system. The purposes are to 

  • provide educators, students, and stakeholders with immediate and detailed feedback on student performance on grade-level-specific content standards to inform instruction for individual student's needs; and 
  • provide a reliable estimate to inform a student's end-of-grade (EOG) assessment experience.

NC Check-Ins 2.0 for High School

The NC Check-Ins 2.0 for high school are interim assessments aligned to North Carolina course-level content standards developed by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI). The purpose is to 

  • provide students, teachers, parents, and stakeholders with immediate in-depth action-data, and a reliable estimate of a student's current performance on the selected sub-set of content standards.

The NC Check-Ins 2.0 for high school are not part of the NCPAT system.

  • NC Check-Ins 2.0 for Reading and Mathematics at grades 3–8 and science at grades 5 and 8
    • September 16, 2025 through May 29, 2026

High School

  • NC Check-Ins 2.0 for Biology, English II, NC Math 1, and NC Math 3
    • Year-long courses: September 3, 2025, through May 29, 2026
    • Fall semester: September 3, 2025, through February 14, 2026
    • Spring semester: January 6, 2026, through May 29, 2026

Teacher-level reports are available to help teachers individualize support and instruction for student learning throughout the year. Reports for NC Check-Ins 2.0 are accessible in the NC Education online reporting system. Teachers are linked to these reports through student 
information system enrollments. NC Check-Ins 2.0 reports are available only through the online reporting system.

To access reports through the online reporting system, the teacher’s email address from the student identification system must match the teacher’s email address on their NC Education account. The teacher must have students in the appropriate course code in the student 
information system. Teachers listed as “teacher 2,” for co-teaching classes, need to contact their district or school test coordinator for access to the reports.
