Implementation Supports Recommended Teaming Structures Teaming Structures are essential to the efficient implementation of an MTSS. Recommended teams and functions are outlined in this document. Communication Planning The purpose of a communication plan is to help manage the change process. This provides a method to ensure the building leadership team is providing a consistent message, giving the necessary information to the appropriate groups, and helping them understand why the change and timeline are necessary. Resource Mapping This planning template can be used by school or district teams to identify existing resources to utilize during MTSS implementation. Defining and Refining Core Support Core support includes academic, behavioral, social and emotional, and attendance components and is differentiated to support all students. Essential elements of Core support (described in the link above ) are defined, analyzed, adjusted, and documented by grade level and subject area. Systematic 4 Step Problem Solving Model The best solutions are developed when information/data is examined through several lenses (i.e., team-based), and teams must examine multiple sources of data to arrive at valid solutions. No one data source should ever be used in isolation. Finally, a systematic model with pre-determined steps and protocols should be utilized.
