Topics Related to Exceptional Children

This in-person workshop is intended for professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the general education setting. Participants will be provided with an overview of the characteristics of ASD that impact a student’s academic and functional performance in the educational setting and implications for teaching.

Invitation only. This virtual offering will provide an overview of data systems as one of the six critical components for capacity building. Participants will learn about key components of data systems and apply this information to begin developing a data system aligned with implementation of an effective autism program.

This meeting is intended for PSU Autism Support Teams (AST) in the Southeast and Sandhills regions. Participants will receive professional learning on behavior problem-solving from the perspective of autism, updates from the NCDPI Autism Team, and have time to network with other PSUs.

Williamston, NC

This meeting is intended for PSU Autism Support Teams (AST) in the Piedmont-Triad and Southwest regions. Participants will receive professional learning on behavior problem-solving from the perspective of autism, updates from the NCDPI Autism Team, and have time to network with other PSUs. 

Mocksville, NC

This meeting is intended for PSU Autism Support Teams (AST) in the Northwest and Western Regions. Participants will receive professional learning on behavior problem-solving from the perspective of autism, updates from the NCDPI Autism Team, and have time to network with other PSUs.

Morganton, NC

This one-day professional learning specializes in collaboration to provide an understanding of the Mathematic Extended Content Standards. This professional learning is directed towards teachers and professionals instructing students with significant cognitive disabilities. During the day, professionals will collaborate to analyze, decode, plan, and create mathematical activities. The professional learning will be held July 22,2025 in Brunswick County NC from 8:30 until 3:30 with an hour lunch.

This in-person workshop is intended for exceptional children teachers who are responsible for designing classroom environments and programming for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants will explore a variety of aspects of classroom management to increase student engagement.
