This virtual session will offer an overview of the Fit4Work approach to developing student skills for work with panel discussion on implementation. Our time will be spent → Fit4Work overview and resource exploration→ Case application→ Work Capacity Evaluation → Implementation options and discussion→ Panel discussion with Fit4Work creator, Connie Johnson, Karen Greeley (also with Fit4Work) and the Cabarrus County PT team (who have implemented this program in their PSU).

This in-person workshop is intended for professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the general education setting. Participants will be provided with an overview of the characteristics of ASD that impact student’s academic and functional performance in the educational setting and implications for teaching. Particular attention will be given to the use of visual supports to increase student engagement in and completion of standards-aligned tasks and assignments. Successful completion of this professional learning will result in 0.6 CEUs.

There will be two offerings of the annual NC school-based occupational therapy ethics webinar on April 14th from 2-3p and April 15th from 9a-10a. Participants only need to attend one session. A recorded option will not be provided. This session will explore ethical considerations for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for school-based occupational therapy practitioners, using NCDPI and practice-based resources, including the AOTA 2025 Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics. A certificate of attendance will be provided for .1 CEU/1 contact hour. Participants must register by April 7th.

Join colleagues from across North Carolina for the Spring Meeting for Preschool Exceptional Children Coordinators. This meeting is a focused opportunity to connect, learn, and shape our work ahead. This session will spotlight the use of parent counseling and training as a related service, feature LEA practice highlights that are strengthening early childhood SPP/APR performance and provide important ECEC informational updates to support local efforts to serve young children with disabilities.

This two-day in-person course is a deep dive into language development and strategies for providers to encourage and teach communication to students who have complex needs. Participants will become familiar with communicative functions, informal assessment tools, augmentative and alternate communication teaching methodologies and explore ways to embed communication within instruction aligned with the Extended Content Standards. To effectively support students with complex needs, SLPs and ECS teachers attending together are encouraged.
