This in-person professional learning is designed for administrators, program specialists, and other support staff, who are involved with decision-making regarding course of study and programming for students with significant cognitive disabilities (SCD). Participants will review resources and considerations to help determine if a student has a SCD and should be accessing the Extended Content Standards and NCEXTEND1 alternative assessments.

June 4, 2026, All day

This in-person workshop is intended for educators and administrators who support students with significant cognitive disabilities. Participants will be provided an overview of essential content for teaching and supporting students with significant cognitive disabilities, including exploring belief systems, an introduction to the Extended Content Standards, supporting student communication abilities, and developing effective classroom and student programming.

May 26, 2026, All day

This in-person workshop is intended for educators and administrators who support students with significant cognitive disabilities. Participants will be provided an overview of essential content for teaching and supporting students with significant cognitive disabilities, including exploring belief systems, an introduction to the Extended Content Standards, supporting student communication abilities, and developing effective classroom and student programming.

May 27, 2026, All day

This in-person workshop is intended for professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the general education setting. Participants will be provided with an overview of the characteristics of ASD that impact a student’s academic and functional performance in the educational setting and implications for teaching. Particular attention will be given to the use of visual supports to increase student engagement in and completion of standards-aligned tasks and assignments. 

June 10, 2026 - June 11, 2026, All day

This two-day in-person workshop is intended for professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Participants will be provided with an overview of ASD and effective instructional practices that promote student engagement and independence in the educational environment. Particular attention will be given to the use of visual supports (individualized student schedules, activity systems, material design, and environmental design). 

There are no registration fees associated with this professional learning activity.

This training is designed for preschool assessment team members who are experienced in using TPBA2 for the assessment of young children and want to learn more about using TPBA2 in evaluating young children suspected of autism spectrum disorder. Participants will deepen their understanding of how autism-related characteristics may influence a play-based assessment and learn how to adapt their evaluation planning, information-gathering strategies, and facilitation techniques accordingly.
