This two-day in-person course is a deep dive into language development and strategies for providers to encourage and teach communication to students who have complex needs. Participants will become familiar with communicative functions, informal assessment tools, augmentative and alternate communication teaching methodologies and explore ways to embed communication within instruction aligned with the Extended Content Standards. To effectively support students with complex needs, SLPs and ECS teachers attending together are encouraged. Attendance for the entirety of both days is required to earn 1.2 CEUs.
