Digital Learning Grants

Since 2017, the competitive Digital Learning Initiative Grants have supported districts as they address challenges, harness opportunities, and leverage resources for digital-age teaching and learning. By creating hubs of innovation across the state that model digital leadership and that support NC educators in their professional growth, students’ access to highly-qualified educators and opportunities increases.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) has announced the opening of the Digital Learning Initiative (DLI) Grants for the 2025-2026 school year. These competitive grants aim to support public school units (PSUs) in implementing innovative digital teaching and learning practices. This year we will offer the Digital Learning Impact Grant: A three-year grant designed to assist PSUs in planning, implementing, and assessing digital learning initiatives. Funding is available up to $95,000 annually for traditional PSUs and up to $30,000 annually for charter, regional, and lab schools.

The DLI Grants focus on:
  • Prioritizing NC Digital Learning Competencies and Digital Learning Standards for Students through:
    • Blended Learning
    • Innovative Digital Teaching and Learning
    • Coaching
    • Data-Informed Instructional Practices
    • Emerging Technologies
