NCDPI: Introduction to Digital Accessibility

Presentation slides from in-person and virtual sessions designed for NCDPI staff who create and/or procure digital content. Topics include accessibility strategies and a deep dive into the ADA title II rule.

Digital content inventory template (document)

This document is designed as an optional support tool to help NCDPI teams identify and inventory various types of digital content created/procured, offering a non-exhaustive list of content categories to consider as teams assess the current landscape of digital resources. Digital content inventory and audit template (spreadsheet)

This spreadsheet is an optional support tool designed to assist NCDPI teams in auditing and planning for the remediation of inaccessible digital content. It includes separate tabs for different types of digital content: documents, web pages, videos, and procured solutions.

Columns include

  • Whether content meets an exception to the ADA rule or requires review (Column A)
  • Impact of the content on stakeholders (Column B)
  • Effort needed for remediation (Column C)
  • Impact/effort correlation to a priority ranking (1-6) to help teams effectively prioritize and plan for content review, audit, and remediation. (Column D)
  • Additional columns provide space for audit and remediation action steps

Alignment to NCDPI, state, and national goals and standards

This document references NCDPI, state, and national goals and standards that relate to digital accessibility and/or accessible educational materials. Examples include alignment with the NC Digital Learning Standards, NC Portrait of a Graduate Competencies, and the National Ed Tech Plan. This is a working document that will be updated over time.
