Autism Support Team (AST) meetings are for those Public School Units (PSUs) who maintain an AST for the purpose of building capacity in effective implementation of services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This meeting will focus on the critical components that are needed to pursue that goal. Participants will receive updates from the NCDPI Autism Team as well as time to network with other PSUs.Lillington, NC

This one-day workshop is intended for professionals working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the general education setting. Participants will be provided with an overview of the characteristics of ASD to support the planning and provision of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI). Particular attention will be given to the use of visual supports to increase student engagement in and completion of standards-aligned tasks and assignments. Jacksonville, NC

Accountability mechanisms are one of the six critical components for capacity building. In this webinar, teams will be provided resources to support their exploration and selection of a classroom observation tool. Teams will have time during the webinar to begin the process of selecting a tool that will be used within this initiative to gather information on strengths and opportunities for growth within the PSU's autism programming.
