Accountability Data Sets and Reports

For the 2020–21 school year, the United States Department of Education and the North Carolina General Assembly granted North Carolina waivers from school accountability (School Performance Grades). The data reported for the 2020–21 school year is presented for educators and parents to identify where additional support is needed as students begin the 2021–22 school year. Comparing the 2020–21 data with any previous year’s data prior to COVID is cautioned.

2020–21 Participation Requirements Report

2020–21 School Identification Lists: The United States Department of Education (USED) and the North Carolina General Assembly waived requirements for reporting School Performance Grade. A condition of the federal waiver requires continued support for schools previously designated as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) and Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI). Likewise, Session Law 2021-130 requires continued support for schools identified as low performing based on data from the 2018–19 school year.

2019–2020 School Identification Lists
The United States Department of Education (USED) and the North Carolina General Assembly granted the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction a waiver from administering the statewide assessments required by federal law and from School Performance Grade reporting. Based on the waiver from the USED and North Carolina General Assembly school designations from the 2019–20 school year, must remain in effect; therefore, the annual identification of low-performing schools, low-performing districts, Comprehensive Support and Improvement schools and Targeted Support and Improvement schools, was not applied, and these lists remain the same for the 2020–2021 school year. The updated lists reflect this information and are available below. Other annual accountability reports that are not in the list below, were not updated for the 2019–20 school year as there is no new data available to report.
