Vocabulary Instruction for Students Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing

Course Objectives: 1. Understand the role vocabulary plays in literacy development and skilled reading. 2. Identify the typical rate of learning vocabulary. 3. Learn & practice strategies on how to teach vocabulary for different ages/skill levels. 4. Learn resources for identifying what vocabulary to teach. 5. Understand the importance of vocabulary assessment and progress monitoring.

Target Audience: Space is limited for this in-person class, and registration is only open to Public School Employees who work with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in North Carolina. Participation in this professional learning results in 0.6 CEU Credits.
