It will provide participants with an overview of the learning styles of individuals with ASD and effective instructional practices that promote student engagement and independence in the educational environment, with particular attention to the use of visual supports (environmental design, material design, visual schedules and activity systems). This professional learning supports best practice by providing teams of teachers (general and special educators) with six approaches of co-teaching, their implementation and practical tools, that can be utilized by teams implementing co-teaching as a service delivery model in their schools. The teams will gain knowledge of the essential elements of co-teaching: co-planning, co-instructing, and co-assessing.The deadline to register is June 10, 2024 by 5:00pm.Co-Teaching Instructor Process:

This professional development is for administrators, both at the building and district level. Administrators will also attend the afternoon session of the paired professional development: Co-Teaching Going Beyond the Basics. Instructors will inform administrators of the time they should arrive.
June 27, 2024, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Both the General Education and Special Education Teachers are expected to attend the training together. Administrators will be expected to meet with their teaching teams either in person or through a virtual meeting link. Participants wishing to become instructors of the course for redelivery in their district will need to attend both the administrators' day and the teachers' day. Please indicate this desire in the registration.
