This session is intended to inform educators about the services Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) offers for students with Visual Impairments ages 14 and up. This sessions will be an overview of information and how to connect with local resources. All interested persons are welcome to attend including, case managers, teachers and parents of students with visual impairments.

These sessions are designed to review and examine the best practices for serving students with Neurological Visual Impairments. These sessions will review components of assessments to help teams determine approaches, accommodations and best practices in the educational environment.
August 20, 2024, 1pm - 3pm
These sessions will examine the best practices and essential information for teams to consider when reviewing Functional Vision and Learning Media Assessments for Students with Visual Impairments.
August 19, 2024, 1pm - 3pm
This session is to kick off the 4+ cohort for Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments with over 4 years of experience serving students with Visual Impairments. This professional learning community meets throughout the year to explore resources, materials and best practices for students with visual impairments. 
August 15, 2024, 1pm - 3pm
This ongoing cohort and professional learning community is for Accessible Media Producers (AMPs) this includes Braillist. Participants are learning about everything from new technologies for embossed braille and tactile graphics to downloading and accessing digital content for student use in a timely manner.
October 12, 2024, 9am - 3pm
This training session is for educational sign language interpreters working with students who are deaf and hard of hearing. Use of space is an area of weakness on the EIPA assessment for NC and this workshop will provide strategies to improve the interpreting product.

This professional development training will focus on the receptive and expressive language development of students who are deaf and hard of hearing of varying ages. Do you work with learners with extensive support needs and/or DeafBlindness? Join us for a day-long free workshop covering information regarding concept development, communication, and best practices in supporting this population of students. This training is an offering of the NC DeafBlind Project. This event will take place in Greensboro, NC. Full Event location and Registration link will be provided when they become available.
