State Superintendent Mark Johnson joins Gov. Roy Cooper and North Carolina’s business community in recognizing March as Students@Work℠ Month. This statewide career-awareness effort offers students the chance to hear from guest speakers, take part in worksite visits or engage in virtual programs to begin exploring potential careers.
Students@Work℠ is a partnership between the North Carolina Business Committee for Education (NCBCE) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. This year’s program involves 280 businesses statewide and is expected to impact 146,000 students.
“Students@Work℠ gives our students the valuable opportunity to see early on the types of jobs that are available to them in their local communities,” Johnson said. “This type of exposure is important as they begin to think about and prepare for their future careers. The state’s schools are proud to be part of a partnership that has such a direct benefit for our students and our businesses.”
Students@Work℠ focuses primarily on middle school students, as well as some in high school, as students begin to think about the classes they want to take over the next few years.
