This two-day course is an in-depth dive into language development and strategies for providers to encourage and teach communication to students who have complex needs. Participants will become familiar with communicative functions, informal assessment tools, augmentative and alternate communication teaching methodologies and explore ways to embed communication within instruction aligned with the Extended Content Standards. Due to the comprehensive needs of students with complex needs, a team of an SLP and ECS teachers attending together is encouraged. Attendance for the entirety of both days is required to earn 1.2 CEUs.
