The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) Is seeking public comment on its request for a waiver (called a Late Liquidation waiver) to gain access to expired funds for use in the 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) rather than returning them to the federal government. The 21st CCLCs provide before and after school and summer programs for students in high poverty or low-performing schools.
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is making available its annual State Application for receiving grant award under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) as amended in 2004. The proposed application will be available for public review March 4, 2019 – May 5, 2019. Comments will be accepted March 4, 2019– April 3, 2019.
Notice is hereby given that the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) will request a waiver of section 421(b) of the General Education Provisions Act (GEPA) (the "Tydings Amendment") from the United States Department of Education as it affects the authority of the NCDPI and its sub-recipients to obligate fiscal year (FY) 2016 regular funds after September 30, 2018. Specifically, NCDPI is requesting that the authority to obligate funds for the State-administered Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) program listed below be extended to September 30, 2019.

While the ESSA State Plan has been available for public comment since the initial draft was posted on Sept. 29, 2016, the posting of the new draft on June 26 marks the official beginning of the public review and comment period.
